Former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, with Peter Doherty, Director of Primary Health Care, Links International

Mission

We believe that as part of the great commission which Jesus has given to his church, it is vital that we "think locally, act globally".  As well as wanting to be an influence for good in our local community, we want to bring good news, in all its forms to communities around the world.

Peter Doherty, one of our founding pastors, who was also the Director of Primary Health Care for Links International, has lead  numerous  teams delivering training in primary health care to countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, Lesotho, India and Sri Lanka.

His wife, Suzanne, our other founding pastor, until recently was a trustee of In Ministry to Children and as a result many of us have either travelled to Colombia to help, or have worked hard at fundraising here at home.

Many of our members have involvements with various countries, some of these are reflected in our links page.

We are also delighted to be hosting Mauricio and Sibele Colussi, a young couple who are missionaries to our culture from Brazil.

We are also involved in supporting the charity www.1dollaraday.org which was founded in 2006 in the UK by a handful of people wanting to do something about the billion or so who live on less than 1 Dollar a Day. Knowing that only together could we acheive something significant, www.1dollaraday.org was born – a movement  by the people for the people. Their aims:

  • to see sustained long-term development and growth in the developing world
  • to see a reduction in the exploitation of vulnerable people, communities and environments
  • to invest into our specific target areas
  • to benefit individuals, families and communities and to reinforce local infrastructure and provide employment.
